Bikin'

Guess I had to know this was coming...Jane's bike has been sitting out, and Penny wanted on. She can't even reach the pedals, but loved having Jane push her!

Penny has been throwing stuff away for me. Bits of paper from the floor, or food that has fallen out of the highchair. She manages to open the trash cabinet, and she thinks she's pretty funny. She's pretty hard to resist when she looks at me like this.

Time for Spicers!

Yeah...it's fall. It's cider and donut time! Chilly morning, we barely were able to stay outside at the Orchard to eat our donuts and cider, but the sun warmed us up a bit. The girls wanted to stay and play, but we just weren't really dressed for it. Maybe in a couple of weekends we'll go back and go to the play area. We miss Uncle Baird, so we named one of the goats after him so we can visit on weekends. Hehee.

Fun with Gram...

Nice day with Gram Nomi. I brought some blueberry coffeecake that I added a little zucchini to; I'll be making this recipe again, it was yummy. Penny likes all Grandma's little mugs. Hung out for awhile that morning, and I even got Penny down for a nap, which I was not expecting. Jane had a few meltdowns while we were out; I can't wait for this stage to be over! Did a few errands, and had a little time to kill before it was really dinner time. We ended up going to downtown K'zoo and the girls ran around in the center square for awhile. Cute and fun, and Jane made a couple of friends with a group of sisters that were there playing as well. Pointed out the Methodist Church where Mike and I got married to Jane. Chinese for dinner, super good; Jane played 'fancy' with her tea. Good thing Gram got some sweet & sour chicken, 'cause my orange chicken was really good--but way spicey for the girls. Managed to get back to Grandma's to drop her off before the kids were asleep. Fairly and quiet nice drive home.

K'zoo

Headed to K'zoo for an evening to hang with Grandparents. Mom & Dad are out of town for awhile helping Baird move from Phoenix to Albuquerque. Snached up Gram Nomi and met up with G&G Carlson and Debbie for brunch. Jane had pumpkin pancakes...I'll have to try making these at home! We checked out G&G's new condo. Looks like lots of space, and the girls and I love how close the Kal-Haven trail is...just past their backyard. I wish I had a trail out my backyard! Aunt Arlene and Uncle Loren live just a couple of condos away, so got to see them real quick, and nice that G&G will have them close by. We ran a couple of errands after that, and then got some pizza and headed back to Gram Nomi's house. Jane watched an old Cinderella movie with Ginger Rodgers; lots of people breaking into song randomly. She loved it. Girls did okay for the evening, took awhile to get everyone to sleep, but that is kind of expected.

Heritage Days

Kind of a dreery day; pouring rain this morning, which was a little unexpected. Cleared up a bit after Penny's nap, and I thought I'd give Mike a little space to work. The girls and I went downtown (haha) to Hartland's Heritage Festival. Couple of stands and things for the girls to do. Jane 'milked' a cow and got a hairwrap, and we checked out the new little restaurant that will be opening soon. They had icecream cones. Penny wanted to hold her own, but it's too messy, and I didn't have much to clean up with. Saw a couple of friends from library, and then the sky got dark. We made it back to the car, just barely in time to avoid getting soaked.

Sidewalk chalk.

New box of chalk from the clearance rack entertained Jane for quite awhile this afternoon. Penny got into the act after her nap as well. They're pretty cute together sometimes.

Hmmm...

I think this is a little backwards, perhaps?

Summer get together...

Nice late summer afternoon at Gram D's for dinner. Girls ran around on the lawn, and it was nice to catch up with Grandpa Laber and Maryanne.

16 months

Wow. Miss Penelope is 16 months already...almost a year and a half. Too fast. She's just such a little monkey. Makes us laugh each and everyday. She needs to grow more, though. Still grooving in a sweatsuit from last winter...

Jane still loves Princesses. Especially Cinderella. We happened upon this g*d awful shirt at Meijers...in the clearance rack. Ummhmm. How to resist $2 shirt that makes my child smile like this? Even as I cringe in my hatred of all cartoon character apparel? It's a stage, it's a stage, it's a stage. If I repeat it many many times, can we move to the next stage already? This one shows no signs of ending anytime soon!

Summer dresses

Cute new summer dresses from Gram & a friend of hers. My little country chicks! Nice to have the grams up for a little visit...nice to have extra hands. Penny is at that 'into everything... going everywhere... all the time stage.' Mike got a bunch of little projects done over the long weekend. Progress is progress!
