Happy Memorial Day

Went to the Hartland Memorial Day Parade, as has been our family tradition since we've lived here. It was a hot one this year! We met up with another lovely homeschooling family, girls all had fun catching candy and watching the floats. Made it home to chill and cool off all afternoon.

Penny is 2!

Little family celebration for Penny's 2nd birthday. Daddy let her blow out the candle a couple of times. Figured that she only had one candle, but she's two, so she should get to blow it out twice, right!

Had a lovely Mother's Day as well, with grandma and my mom and my girls all together...makes for a special day.

Caddy

This quarter Mike picked up a Cadillac.

Pretty nice, and it has a backseat (of sorts!) so we were all able to get into it....Penny got to face forward, there was no way her car seat was going to fit backwards. The girls like all the switches, but mostly they like it when Daddy revs the engine and goes fast. Penny started copying Jane, saying GO GO GO. I'm not sure they should be exposed to this at such a young age. :)

Drawing

Jane drew a picture of Daddy with his chainsaw today. Sheer awesomeness! When she tries, she does a really good job of putting lots of detail into her drawings. Hard to believe it seems like it was just awhile ago that she was making the dead-eye egg people as we termed them. Mike cut down a bunch of trees today, and it was nice to have a sunny fairly warm afternoon to be outside a bit, maybe spring is on the way.

Yellow Car

GM is giving a pretty cool benefit to their employees--they can 'borrow' a car for either a work week or a weekend. Mike showed up in this tonight! The girls are pretty excited for the yellow car; Jane got a ride in the front seat, and Penny a quick one, too. Silly giggles...and that's just from Mike.

Princess Economics

Trying to throw some economics into a birthday cash discussion tonight.

Jane, you've got some money, you can buy 2 games for your leapster, or you could buy one and save the rest.

She wasn't that interested in saving it. So, Mike said, "Don't you want a car someday?".

She responded, "Princesses do NOT drive cars."

I said, "How do they get places, then?"

Jane says, "In a CARRIAGE."

I say, "Well, you have to have money to buy a carriage, and a horse, and hay for the horse...and someone to drive the carriage."

She says, "No, Daddy can drive it, you guys will be my servants."

Oh. Wonderful.

Cheeseball

She's such a little cheese sometimes! I love that her sense of humor is really developing...
